Marian Garrett Gibbs
Marlin--Marian Garrett Gibbs, 82, of Marlin passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002, at a Waco hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday at Adams Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Stranger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gibbs was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Falls County to Sanford Q. and Agnes Mitchell Garrett. She was a retired school teacher, a member of Presbyterian church and a 48-year resident of Marlin. She was the second of seven children, married Garland Gibbs on Aug. 31, 1941, in Cleburne, published poetry, was a member of the National Women's Press Association and served as treasurer. She was also a member of Vocational Economics Association and Falls County Historical Committee. She served on the Women's Council and taught Sunday school at her church. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 1, 1976.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John G. and Donna Gibbs of Corinth, Texas, David E. and Lois Gibbs of Fort Worth, and Gary M. and Kathy Gibbs of Huntsville; grandsons, Paul, Mark, Brian, and Craig Gibbs; granddaughters, Dana Reinke, and Julie Tennyson; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Collin, Lauren and Lindsey Gibbs, Christopher and Michael Reinke, and Mitchell Tennyson; and sisters, Joydelle Wolfram of Marlin, and Margaret Dixon of Mesa, Ariz.
Pallbearers include Stephen Reinke, Rick Tennyson, and grandsons, Paul Gibbs, Dr. Mark E. Gibbs, Craig Gibbs, and Brian Gibbs.
