Edward Lee “Ted” Ford

November 1, 1920 – May 12, 2008

 

Edward Lee "Ted" Ford, 87, of Baileyville, died Monday, May 12, 2008, in a Waco hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Rosebud, with the Rev. H.L. Williams and Dr. Carl Jennings Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud. Visitation will be 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral in Rosebud.

 

Mr. Ford was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Baileyville, to Thelston and Lessie Whitman Ford. He began school in Baileyville and graduated from Calvert High School in 1937. He was a lifelong resident of Baileyville and was often referred to as the "Mayor" of the community. He served the rural electrification program for 36 years as Director of Belfalls Electric Coop from September 1962 until April 1999. He was vice president from 1988 until 1997, then president until retirement. He was a retired farmer and cattle rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rosebud and was a member of the Board of Directors of Bryan Production Credit Association from 1959 to 1983. He was a past member of Cameron Country Club and Calvert Country Club.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Whitman Ford and Bob Ford; three sisters, Dale Ford Cheeves, Alex Ford Crawford, and Lucille Ford McClellan; his first wife, Francis Henslee Ford; and second wife, Dorothy Dyer Ford.

 

He is survived by three step-daughters, Kay Trice and husband, Joe of Baileyville, Carol

 

Schmidt and husband, Donald, and Melva Loewe and husband, Harold both of Rosebud; and numerous nieces and nephews.
