PATSY JEAN (DICKSON) ESTES
June 27, 1926 - February 1, 2006
Patsy Jean (Dickson) Estes
Patsy Jean Dickson Estes, age 79, of Riesel, died peacefully at her with family by her side after a short illness.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, with Rev. Aaron Young officiating.
Mrs. Estes was born on June 27, 1926 in Chilton to Robert and Willie Broyles Dickson. She married Joe K. Estes on August 30, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1994, her parents and two brothers also preceding.
During her life she worked in customer service at Sears in Houston, was a homemaker and later after moving to Chilton in 1971, she was a teacher's aide at Chilton High School until she retired. She moved to Riesel in 1990. Patsy Jean loved to spend time with her family cooking out, swimming, traveling and eating out. She loved to sew before losing her vision a few years ago. She was a “woman who spoke her mind” and loved her family. Her favorite scripture was I Cor. 13, the “love chapter” of the Bible and her favorite hymn was “In the Garden”. She believed in never letting the sun go down without forgiving one another if you were mad. “P.J.” will be greatly missed by her children, family and friends and especially her “running buddy”, Ruby. She was such a loving and forgiving person who always wanted to be fair to everyone. We'll miss you, Patsy Jean.
Survivors include her sons, Joe K. Estes, Jr. and wife Ruby, Riesel, Pat Wayne Estes and wife Bobette, Lorena, Troy Bryant Estes and wife Karen, Lorena; a sister, Lucretia Dickson Hairston and husband Ross of Milano; a brother-in-law, James A.
