Joyce Eloise Daniel

Joyce Eloise Daniel passed away on June 19, 2008 in Houston, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Big Hill, Texas on January 1, 1929 to John Clifton and Mollie Elizabeth Smiley. She graduated from Ben Hur High School in 1945. After graduating, she moved to Houston, Texas and soon thereafter she moved to Marlin, Texas and began working for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She met Garland Daniel and they married in 1947. They have three children, Danny, David, and Tina. Eloise was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlin, Texas where she enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and working in the nursery. She retired from the Telephone Company in 1984.
She is survived by her husband, Garland Daniel of Marlin, Texas, son, Danny Daniel and wife, Donna of Conroe, Texas, son, David Daniel and wife, LuJean, of Cleveland, Texas, daughter, Tina Courville and husband, Steve of Houston, Texas, sister, Rachel Hartnett of Brenham, Texas, and her six grandchildren: Josh Daniel and wife, Courtney, Megan Daniel, Andrea Courville, and Kaleigh Courville, all of Houston, Texas, Winston Daniel and Matthew Daniel of Cleveland, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Mollie Smiley, brother, L.C. Smiley and sister-in-law, Martha, brother, Doyle Smiley and sister-in-law, Margaret, brother, Dillard Smiley and sister-in-law, Altha (Babe), brother, Walton (Buddy) Smiley and sister-in-law, Jo, sister, Vernon Wilson and brother-in-law, Rudolph, sister, Vida Carter and brother-in-law, Horace.
Visitation was held Sunday June 22, 2008 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Adam's Funeral in Marlin, Texas. Services were held Monday, June 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Adam's Funeral Chapel in Marlin, Texas. Courtney Lyons, M. Div. will officiate. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.
Adams Funeral in Marlin was in charge of arrangements.
