COCKERHAM, Carroll

LOTT-Carroll Cockerham, 65, of Lott, recipient of the Congressional Medal of
Honor, died Friday at a Temple hospital.
Arrangements are pending at Green-Gerngross Funeral in Rosebud.
Mr. Cockerham was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Sudan. He lived in Sudan and New Mexico
prior to moving to Lott in 1972.
He served in the Air Force during World War II and was wounded in action in the
European Theater. He received several medals.
He was a member of the Marlin chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and
Carolina Masonic Lodge No. 330 in Lott. He was married to LaVerne Becker. He was
a Baptist.
Survivors include wife; a son, David Cockerham of Stratton, Colo.; a stepson,
Madison Wideman of Lott; three daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Cox of Las Cruces, N.M.,
and Mrs. Debra Richardson and Mrs. Vickey Joseph, both of Houston; a step-
daughter, Mrs. Gail Palmore of Davenport, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. David Kiethley of
Littlefield; and six grandchildren.

LOTT - Services for Carroll Cockerham, 65, of Lott were at 10 a.m. today at the
Green-Gerngross Funeral in Rosebud, minister Calvin Prince officiating. Masonic
graveside services followed in the Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott.
Mr. Cockerham, a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, died Friday in a
Temple hospital.
