Robert Lee Chane
March 25, 1919 – July 6, 2008
Robert Lee Chane, 89, of Marlin, passed away Saturday July 6, 2008 at the
Falls Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Marlin Restoration
Church of Jesus Christ, 1012 Live Oak, Marlin, Texas with Elder Billy Walker
officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin. The family will
receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Church.
Mr. Chane was born on March 25, 1919 to Arthur Chane and Alice (Hewitt)
Chane. He attended school in Criswell, Texas. He served 4 years in the U.S.
Army, 9th Armored Infantry Battalion and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was
a police officer for 9 years for the Marlin Police Department in the 60's.
Robert married Fay Kay on June 22, 1974 in Marlin. He worked for Wilson Art in
Temple, retiring with 13 years of service. He was a greeter for 9 years at the
Wal-Mart store in Marlin. Robert was a member of the Marlin Restoration Church
of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Tull and a grandson,
Jason Saunders.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Fay Chane of Marlin; six
daughters, Alice McClain and husband John of Marlin, Jennifer Chane of Gholson,
Debbie Saunders of Denton, Kitty Rosas and husband Alex of Riesel, Janee Fisher
and husband Roy of Waco, Lashawn Reneau of Marlin; son Terry Reneau and wife
Linda of Hewitt; sister, Willie Mae Stoviack of Houston; 16 grandchildren, 18
great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
