Loyd Cantrell
October 26, 1926 - July 11, 2008
Loyd A. Cantrell, 81, of Chilton, entered into rest Friday, July 11,
2008.
Military gravesides were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at
Oakwood cemetery in Waco with Rev. William (Bill) Pack officiating. Visitation
was held Monday, July 14, 2008 at Adams Funeral in Marlin.
Mr. Cantrell was born October 26, 1926 in Littlefield, Texas to William
C. and Ocie Fleming Cantrell. He married Peggy Beeman on January 2, 2003 in
Waco. He served in the U.S. Navy for over twenty years, seeing duty in World War
II, Korea and Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Linda Christine
Cantrell, brother Terrell Cantrell, a grandson David Loyd Hornady and the
children's mother Patsy Ruth Cantrell.
Honorary pallbearers were Truett Cantrell, Bret Crawford, Adam Runk,
Jacob Rosas, Josh McCuistion Thomas Rodriquez and all of the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cantrell of Chilton; son, Truett and
wife Noreen Cantrell of Corpus Christie; daughters, Carolyn and husband Bret
Crawford of Chesterfield, Virginia, Denise and husband Adam Runk of Temple,
Dianne Cantrell of Temple, Patti and husband Jacob Rosas of Temple; sisters,
Verlene and husband Joe Obermier of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joyce Pack of China
Spring, Valerlee and husband Bobby Crabb of Weatherford, Geraldine and husband
Tim Jones of Morgan's Point, Pat Copeland of Waco; 11 grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Loyd and the family would like to thank Hillcrest Hospice for the
excellent care, also all nurses and staff of the 4th floor "A", the clergy staff
and the student nurses.
