NATIVE OF BLEVINS
DIES AT WAXAHACHIE

Mrs. Wayne Bateman, age 42, died at Waxahachie on Saturday, October 11, 1952 at
5:30 p.m. following a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Bateman was a native of the Blevins
community in Falls County, where she was born December 10, 1909. She was
formerly Miss Melba Clark Bowers, her parents are Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Bowers of
the Blevins community. She graduated from the Eddy High School and was
married to Wayne Bateman of Eddy, twenty-two years ago. Mr. Bateman has
been engaged in the farm implement business formerly at Temple and was at Denton
before moving to Waxahachie about a year ago as he continued his farm implement
business connections.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m.
Monday from the First Methodist Church at Eddy, Rev. Oran Stephens and Rev.
Kenneth Blackford officiating. Burial was in the Eddy cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne
Bateman, one son, Wayne Bateman, Jr., and a daughter, Martha Alice Bateman, all
of Waxahachie. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Bowers of Blevins. One
brother, O. L. Bowers Jr. of Austin. Two sisters, Mrs. Earl Mullins, of
Eddy and Mrs. Joseph Davis in England.
Active pallbearers were T. L. Page, Marvin
Horne, H. N. Horne, Cecil Miracle, Lt. T. Dubose, and John Holland.
