FORMER MART MAN KILLED AT MARLIN
The following item from Marlin appearing in today's Waco News is
understood to be a mistake in the initials of the party slain, and is
supposed to be R.J. Williams, one of the number of Mart men recently given
parole from the Leavenworth penitentiary who were serving sentences for I. &
G.N. box car burglaries.
Marlin, Jan. 18--Mrs. J.J. Kahrman, 28 years old, is being held in the
county jail tonight in connection with the killing this afternoon of J.B.
Williams of Mart. Williams was shot while walking almost in front of the
residence of Mr. and Mrs. Kahrman which is located on one of the principal
Marlin streets.
According to Deputy Sheriff Arthur Miles, Kahrman stated to Sheriff C.H.
Plott soon after the killing that he "had tried to get his wife to let him
do the shooting."
Mrs. Karhman refused to make a statement regarding the shooting when she
was taken into custody.
Bystanders say four shots were fired, three of which took effect. One
of the bullets struck Williams in the heart, another on the left side of the
face and the third in the neck. He died instantly.
It was impossible to find what Williams was in Marlin for today.
