BOWMAN, MATILDA BLACKBURN
1883 Obituary for Matilda Blackburn Bowman
Surnames: Bowman, Blackburn
"BOWMAN - Matilda (Blackburn) Bowman died in great peace in the midst of her
children, grandchildren and many friends at the residence of her son, G. W.
Bowman, in Mooreville, Falls County, Texas. She was born in South Carolina,
March 22, 1813, and died June 1, 1883. For more than 50 years she was a worthy,
faithful and useful member of the Methodist Church; always in the path of duty;
never absent unless sick, from Sunday School, love-feast, class meetings, and
always on time. She lived right, she was ready, she said, to depart and be with
her husband and three children, and others who had preceded her to the better
land. She leaves six children and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Her
funeral was preached by this scribe to a very large and attentive audience; and
the largest funeral procession ever seen in Mooreville followed her to her
grave. May we all meet her in heaven - Samuel Morriss."
