Velma (Gameson) Boswank
November 14, 1912 - January 11, 2006
Velma (Gameson) Boswank, 93, of Lott, Falls Co., Texas died Wednesday at
a Rosebud, Texas Nursing home.
Services were held Saturday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral in
Rosebud. Rev. Holly Mitchell officiated.
Burial followed at Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott.
The daughter of
Robert and Minnie Dove Gilbert Gameson, she was born November 14, 1912 in the
McClanahan community of Falls County. She spent her childhood and attended
school in the Riesel and Perry communities.
Velma married
Otto Boswank on December 10, 1929.
The two spent the majority of their lives on the farm in western Falls County
near Belfalls and Durango. They
raised three daughters. The eldest,
Jean Bailey, died in the 1953 Waco tornado.
Velma enjoyed
caring for her family, working outdoors, joyously caring for the yard, flowers
and vegetable garden as well as performing the various other tasks associated
with farm life. She showed great
affection for the many pets she had throughout her life. In addition, Velma
delighted and excelled as a seamstress until her later years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lott,
Falls Co., Texas.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Jean Bailey, great-granddaughter,
Rusti Lauren Mackie and sister, Frances Lewis.
Velma is
survived by daughters, Bettye Norris Smith of Marlin, Texas and Kaye Mackie and
husband, Bob of Golinda; sister, Ola Hackett of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren;
Eugenia Hoelscher and husband, Ralph of Lott, Texas, Natalie DeFrees and
husband, John of Pfugerville, Texas, Elaine Wilhelm and husband, Randy of
Houston, Texas, John Norris of Irving, Texas, Russell Mackie and wife, Tricia of
Lott, Texas, and Jo Picken and husband, Matthew of Willis, Texas;
Great-grandchildren; Darren and Kevin Hoelscher, Taylor DeFrees, Julie and
Jeffrey Wilhelm, Jarrett and Braylee Mackie, Joshua and Zoe Picken, three
Great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral of Rosebud was in charge of the
arrangements.
