BENTLEY, LES, Funeral services for Les
Bentley, 94 will be held December 24, 2006 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Chapel
in Arcadia. With Reverend Jeff Hoffman Officiating. Internment will follow at
Pines Memorial Gardens in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 P.M.
Saturday December 23 at Rose-Neath Funeral in Arcadia. Les was born
February 4, 1912 in the Cego Community near Eddy, Texas. He died December 22,
2006 after a brief illness. He was the son of Fieldon Oras and Sallie Pace
Bentley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Reuben and Milton
Bentley and sister Ella Merle Jones. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruby
Warren Bentley; son Michael W. Bentley and wife Marilyn of Sugarland, TX; 2
daughters, Mary Jane Gabrielson and husband Lyle of San Diego, CA; Linda Carol
Haddox and husband Lamar of Arcadia, LA; brother Clarence Bentley of Dallas, TX;
ten grand children; and six great-grandchildren. He lived in the Dallas, Texas
area since 1932 until moving to Arcadia, LA. in 1998. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Arcadia. He retired from the Dallas Postal Service after
32 years service as superintendent of several stations: East Oak Cliff,
Wynnewood and Joe Pool Station. He also worked for the State Fair of Texas as
gates supervisor for 33 years. After retirement he was a real estate broker for
several years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. We will miss his
sense of humor, quick wit, and wonderful stories about his long, fulfilled life.
We will all miss "Pa". Pallbearers will be his grandson, Joseph Leslie, Doug
Haddox, Lee Jay Haddox, Jeremy Haddox, Bret May and T.V. Razer. Rose-Neath
