DR. BENNETT'S FATHER
FATALLY STRICKEN
WITH HEART ATTACK
Alfred Charles Bennett, Sr., age 83, died in Arlington about 8 p.m.
Wednesday, March 16, 1955. He was the father of Dr. A. C. Bennett of
Marlin.
Dr. Bennett and Dr. Frank McKinley went to
Arlington on Wednesday to visit the sick man who had been stricken at his with a
heart attack on Tuesday. After a diagnosis of the patient it was decided
to move him to Marlin for hospitalization. An Adams Ambulance was called
to Arlington to return Mr. Bennett to Marlin. His condition appeared worse
after the ambulance arrived there and death followed shortly afterwards at his
home.
Mr. Bennett was born in Owensburg,
Kentucky, on November 26, 1871. He resided at Fort Worth and Wichita Falls
and during his liftetime he was engaged as a railroad engineer for the
Burlington line. He retired from these duties about 13 years ago and moved
to Arlington about five years ago. He operated the first diesel railroad
engine to run in Texas on the Fort Worth and Wichita Falls operation.
Funeral services will probably be held
Friday afternoon at Arlington and burial will be at Fort Worth.
He is survived by his widow at Arlington.
One son and one daughter, Dr. A. C. Bennett, (Marlin) and Mrs. W. D. Hord,
Lubbock. Also four grandchildren.
