MRS. TAYLOR TAKES OVER
GARDEN CLUB PRESIDENT
DUTIES, INSTALLED FRIDAY
A no-hostess luncheon at Houston's Restaurant Friday by the Community Garden
Club was the closing program of the club's 1952-53 year.
Following the luncheon a business meeting
was held with Mrs. Frank Hackel, president presiding. Mrs. Walton Taylor,
incoming president, presented Mrs. Hackel as the retiring president, with a set
of milk glass vases as a gift from the club, paying tribute to her for her
efforts during her term of office.
Mrs. E. T. Morgan, historian, read the
history of the club's activities for the past fiscal year.
Table decorations were lilies and other
spring flowers with bells of Ireland in pottery containers.
The arrangements committee for this affair
included Mrs. O. C. Young, Mrs. Joe Watkins, Mrs. E. T. Morgan and Mrs. John
Chatmas.
Mrs. H. W. McNeill, as installing officer
installed the following officers for the 1953-54 term: Mrs. Walton Taylor,
president; Mrs. Frank Hackel, first vice-president; Mrs. Vernon Jones, second
vice-president; Mrs. J. D. Houston, recording secretary; Mrs. L. E. Barrow,
assistant recording secretary; Mrs. John Chatmas, treasurer; Mrs. Geo. S.
Buchanan, censor; Mrs. E. T. Morgan, reporter; Mrs. J. C. Chatmas Sr.,
custodian; Mrs. Sanford Hancock, historian; Mrs. B. W. Ainsworth,
parliamentarian.
