ZONE OFFICERS NAMED BY
METHODIST AUXILIARIES
Nine Organizations Represented at
District Meeting Held in
Marlin.
New officers of the Marlin zone, composed of auxiliaries at Kosse, Lott, Reagan,
Travis, Rosebud, Chilton and Marlin, named at a meeting of Methodist district
Woman's Missionary Societies here Thursday were Mrs. E. L. Ingrum of Marlin,
chairman; Mrs. Walter Day of Kosse, vice chairman; Miss Mae Hutchings of Marlin,
secretary.
With Mrs. W. O. Triggs of Cameron
presiding, the meeting opened with the hymn, "Open My Eyes," followed by
devotionals (sic) given by Mrs. C. T. Cummings of Reagan and prayer by Mrs. I.
L. Peterson of Marlin.
The welcome address was given by Mrs. O. W.
Hooper of Marlin with response by Mrs. Johnson of Cameron.
Auxiliaries represented at the
meeting were Ben Arnold, Cameron, Caldwell, Giddings, Kosse, Reagan, Rosebud,
Travis and Marlin.
The chairman named Mesdames Haasler of
Caldwell, Thompson of Cameron and Weeks of Travis as a committee on resolutions.
Folowing (sic) the report of the
corresponding secretary, Mrs. Triggs, Mrs. F. M. Burkhead of Houston gave a talk
on the work, "Christian Social Relations," the new name for social service.
A voice number, "Sleep, Little Tired Eyes,"
was given by Mrs. Tom Connally of Marlin with Mrs. H. H. Robertson of Marlin at
the piano.
Portions of the 4th chapter of Phillistines
were read by Rev. O. W. Hooper, Marlin pastor, paying a beautiful tribute to the
part women have in the religious life of the church.
Rev. E. L. Ingrum, presiding elder of the
Marlin district, dismissed the meeting with prayer at the noon hour and lunch
was served to the visitors by members of the Marlin auxiliary.
The afternoon session opened at one o'clock
with the hymn, "Take my Life and Let it be," "Spiritual Cultivation" was
the subject of devotionals (sic) with Mrs. Walter Day of Kosse in charge,
reading the 15th chapter of St. John. Mrs. Batte of Cameron gave a talk on
missionary education, stressing this important part of work of the societies.
Mrs. Cone of Rosebud was heard on publicity. The work with children was
stressed by Mrs. Triggs in the absence of the superintendent of this work, Mrs.
Lloyd of Galveston. "How to Use The Missionary Voice" was discussed by
Mrs. Meitzen of Giddings.
Importance of zone meetings was again
stressed by Mrs. Triggs, this resulting in reorganization of the zones and
election of officers.
Following the report of the resolutions
committee, Rev. Walter Day of Kosse led in the closing prayers.
