THREE MEN WHO ELUDED
SHERIFF LATER CAPTURED
Taken Into Custody at Itasca and
Returned to Houston by
Officers.
---
A trio of men riding in an automobile alleged taken from Harry Miller when he
and a girl companion were hijacked near Houston Wednesday night, who eluded
Sheriff Reese, in a chase in and around Marlin early Thursday, were reported
captured after proceeding beyond Waco later in the day.
The three men wanted were caught at Itasca
by Marshal Walters of that town, and were brought through Marlin Thursday night,
heavily manacled, bound for Houston. They gave their names as Virgil
Dunbar, Hilliard Hagood and Paul Humphries. From their conversation it
developed that they were quite familiar with the highway and it is said had
changed cars three times since they left Houston.
The three men were caught at Itasca after
the automobile in which they were riding overturned. Officers reported
finding a number of watches, rings and knives in their possession.
