SAYS TERRACING HELPS
LAND FIFTY PER CENT
Falls County Farmer Declares He
Prefers Short Rows to
Short Crops
"I do believe
that terracing improves our land 50 percent," H. Wittner, Falls county
farmer, writes Dan Clinton, county farm agent.
"Some people think that they wouldn't like so many short rows, but I think I had
rather have short rows than short crops and poor, washed land," Mr.
Wittner declares.
Mr. Wittner has a farm level and has about 90 per cent of his land terraced,
estimating the cost at $1 per acre.
During the pat year he has run liens for a number of farmers, including B. R.
Temple, Chilton, 16 acres; E. A. Liggett, Chilton, 25; John Lewallen, Chilton,
40; Thomas Lewallen, Chilton, 15; Ed Gummelt, Mooreville, 20; Fred Douglas,
Satin, 40; E. G. Kling, Chilton, 35; and Chas. Langford, Chilton, 25.
