QUILT EXHIBIT OF LAMAR
CLUB REPORTED SUCCESS
Many Beautiful Specimens Displayed
in Marlin Downtown
Building.
Sponsored by the
Lamar Demonstration Club, the quilt exhibit held in a downtown Marlin building
Friday was acclaimed a great success with many beautiful specimens displayed ,
while several hand painted pictures were shown and one made of beads attracted
much attention.
First prize was awarded to Mrs. F. E. Hailey, who received a box of canned food
which members of the club had recently canned.
Mrs. J. L. Thompson won second prize, also receiving a box of canned food.
Both of these quilts were hand embroidered with beautiful quilting designs.
Club members voice appreciation to the public for the interest shown and
especially to the ladies for their quilts, the co-operation manifested being
described as wonderful, while thanks are extended to L. N. Stanley for use of
the building.
The amount of $13.89 was received, which will be applied on a cooker and sealer
for the club.
