SLAIN OFFICER FATHER
OF BOY FATALLY INJURED
Marlin Man Tells of Two Tragedies
Occuring (sic) in Same Family
Recently.
M. H. Mimms, director of physical education in Conroe High school, who is
spending the summer with parents in Marlin, wishes to call attention to the
readers of The Democrat concerning tragedies happening to the same family as
published by The Democrat recently.
In the issue of June 20, a short article
was printed concerning an Associated Press report of the injury of a Conroe High
school athlete, Thomas Beyett, of the little town of Magnolia, who died a day
later as the result of diving in a shallow pool of water. Thomas graduated
from Conroe High school in May and was considered as the best left-half back in
the district.
Thursday's issue of The Democrat carried
the news of the capture of one of the two negroes who slew Constable T. J.
Beyett and wounded Justice of the Peace B. H. Dulaney while they were carrying
the two negroes to the Conroe jail. Constable Beyett of Magnolia is the
father of the young athlete. Thomas Beyett--two untimely deaths occuring
(sic) in the same family within a period of less than two month' time.
