ROSEBUD MAN FACES TRIAL
AT BELTON ON MURDER CHARGE
R. H. Hale Charged With Death of
A Companion May 6 Near
Bartlett.
Belton, Texas,
June 30 -- Robert H. Hale of Rosebud was scheduled to go to trail in the Bell
county district court, this morning on a charge of murder growing out of the
killing of Raymond Hilliard near Bartlett on May 6. Hale, Hilliard and
Andrew Kelley are said to have been riding together in a roadster automobile at
the time the trouble came up. They had been in Bartlett and were going to
the of Kelley, near Davilla, nine miles east of Bartlett but stopped on the
road, five miles east of Bartlett. Witnesses to the shooting stated that
Kelley left the party when the automobile was stopped and that one shot was
fired immediately afterward, which struck Hilliard near the right eye, killing
him instantly. Hilliard also lived in Rosebud and the men had been closely
acquainted for a number of years.
