The following is from the first issue of The Daily Democrat,
printed
March 20, 1901:
NOTICE--BUSINESS MEN MEET
A meeting of the business men of Marlin is hereby called to
convene at the mayor's office Wednesday night March 20, 1901, at 8:20 for the
purpose of organizing a young men's business club, having for its purpose the
promotion of the various interests of Marlin.

If the people of Marlin will read the daily from day to day
they will see where the people come from and that their town, now properly
called
the Carlsbad of America, is comign into notice from Minnesota to the Gulf and
from Pnobscott to Sacramento.
Make the visitors feel
welcome in every way possible.
A new era had dawned in Marlin, Of this let all take notice.
We can't have all we want at one time. The water question will be solved
in the sweet subsequently. (And it was)
Marlin has more busines to the square inch than any other
town in the state--so say the commercial tourits.
WANT 'Ad' GOT RESULTS.
WANTED--Two reliable boys with ponies to deliver
the Mor(ning) DEMOCRAT to the residence portion
of the city. Apply at this office.
