April 8 -- The thirtieth annual session of the fourth district, Texas Federation
of Women's clubs, convened in this city Wednesday at noon for a three-day
session.
Delegates began arriving by Tuesday night trains. Many came in Wednesday
morning by automobiles and buses and each train during the day brought many
delegates and visitors. Registration was held at the Municipal building in
charge of the registration committee. Mrs. F. B. Clark, chariman; Mrs. E.
J. Howell, Mrs. Charles Myers, Mrs. E. W. Crenshaw, Mrs. T. E. Wallace, Mrs.
Fred Jones, Mrs. J. P. Dobyne and Mrs. William Wimberly.
At noon Wednesday a luncheon was served at the Woman's Club building for the
district board members at which Mrs. Magee W. Barry of Bryan, life member of the
district board, ws the chief speaker. Mrs. Barry spoke on the organization
of the federation and the need of changes to meet the new conditions in the
twentieth century--social and economic. She stressed the fact the
federation was organized to operate in the nineteenth century and new methods
were needed to meet the demands of the new day and new age.
The members of the executive board present were Mrs. R. F. Lindsay, Mount
Pleasant; Mrs. J. W. Fincher, Houston; Mrs. J. L. Brock, Bryan; Mrs. R. E.
Caudle, Houston; Mrs. Earl Middleton, Beaumont; Mrs. Maggie Barry, College
Station; Mrs. H. B. Fall, Houston; Mrs. Fa. A. White, Port Arthur; Miss Nettie
Brosig, Navasota; Mrs. S. J. Alexander, Hearne; Mrs. J. C. Nable, Waco; Mrs. C.
H. Neblett, Houston; Mrs. S. P. Cauglin, Houston; Mrs. Russell Larue Vernor,
Port Neches; Mrs. R. I. Lenoir, Sour Lake; Mrs. F. L. Herzik, Schulenburg; Mrs.
W. E. Huwieler, Alief; Mrs. A. K. Newby, Houston; Miss Willie Rogers, Bryan;
Mrs. Ralph R. Deets, Houston; and Mrs. J. K. Rosson, Waco.
A board meeting followed the luncheon, presided over by Mrs. J. W.
Fincher of Houston, president of the fourth district.
No other business session was held in the afternoon which was given over to
locating delegates and visitors in the homes assigned them in Bryan and College,
and various social features.
From 5 to 6 o'clock in the afternoon tea was served the visitors in the Key on
the college campus as a courtesy of the extension service. The Key was
built and equipped by the extension service a model farm and is open to visitors
at all times. The tea was presided over by the following women of the
Extension Service Club; Miss Mamie Lee Hayden, chairman; Mrs. A. L. Smith, Mrs.
S. C. Evans, Mrs. H. H. Williamson, Mrs. James Rosborough, Mrs. E. N. Holmgreen,
Mrs. R. R. Lancaster, Miss Minnie Mae Grubbs and Miss Bess Edwards. The
visitors were entertained at dinner in the homes where they are
being entertained.

Houston, president; Mrs. W. P. Wallace, Beaumont, first vice president; Mrs. J.
L. Brock, Bryan, second vice president; Mrs. R. E. Caudle, Houston,
secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Earl Middleton, Beaumont, parliamentarian; Mrs. Edward
Rotan, Waco; Mrs. M. W. Sims, Bryan; Mrs. Maggie Barry, College Station; Mrs. H.
B. Fall, Houston, life member of the board.
