OSTEOPATHIC STUDENTS
To TAKE EXAMINATIONS
-----
Agreement Reached Between State
Medical Board and Dis-
trict Judge
-----
Agreement was reported
made at Austin Wednesday between the state board of medical examiners and
District Judge J. D. Moore and C. A. Wheeler whereby Dr. R. L. Peters of Marlin
and two other osteopathic students will be permitted to take examination with
other medical license applicants. Dr. Peters was in Marlin recently after
having received his degree in osteopathy from a school in Missouri.
After trial of a case in which Dr. Peters
and the osteopaths of Texas were represented by former Governor Dan Moody and
former Senator A. E. Wood, the court and medical board reached the agreement.
When suggestion was made by Judge Moore that inasmuch as any decision handed
down would have a widespread application, the court desired an agreement rather
than to be forced to render a decision. The application for an injunction
to restrain the board from conducting the examinations was left on the docket
without active prosecution.
Granting of the injunction would have
halted the board in its examinations, which were begun Tuesday with 148
applicants.
