OVER SIX HUNDRED CANS
OF FOOD ALREADY PUT UP
Children 4-H Pantry Demonstration
Not Yet Through With
This Work
Mrs. Will Earls,
Chilton 4-H pantry Demonstrator, has canned already 673 cans of food and has all
of her "other vegetables" and meat to add to her stock yet. She has dried
47 pounds of vegetables.
Mr. Earls has not only helped Mrs. Earls to do the canning, but he has also
canned part of the food by himself, putting up some very unusual
and attractive packs of peaches and pickles.
Mrs. Earls has a cellar for her storage, and she ha in her dining room a set of
shelves which she means to use to hold a temporary supply of all foods.
The depression does not seem to have hit the Earls home. They have about
them a good orchard, a vineyard--including several varieties of wild and tame
grapes; a good garden, cows, chickens; and the usual meat supply supplemented by
rabbits and pigeons.
