CHILTON FARMER HAS FIVE ACRES
IN SWEET CLOVER
Also has Six or Eight Acres Planted in
Austrian Winter Peas.
J. B. Davis, farmer near Chilton who has a
large dairy herd, has five acres of sweet clover, which he planted in November
of 1929.
This clover went through the below zero
weather of January, 1930, and made seed last year. Mr. Davis had sheep on
it from September to March and cows on it during September and from November to
March.
The crop is now waist high and will be cut
in a few days. Mr. Davis is planning on a second crop of hay and will let
the third one go to seed.
Mr. Davis also has six or eight acres in
Austrian winter peas, planted primarily for soil building, but he plans to save
the seed.
