MARKS COURT OF HONOR
Marlin Boy Scouts Receive
Awards During Program in
Memorial Cabin
Presentation of
badges marked the Marlin Boy Scouts court of honor held in Memorial Cabin
Friday night, with Judge E. M. Dodson presiding and presenting tenderfoot badges
and Cecil Glass, local scout chairman, presenting star badges.
Importance of being a scout was discussed by C. Y. Meyers of Waco, field
executive of the Heart O' Texas (co)uncil, who cited as an instance of its value
two Dallas scouts who saved their father from drowning through training received
in scouting. He also gave reasons why a boy should be proud to be a scout.
Awards were:
Troop 37 -- Star badges, George Wrenn, Herbert Hooper, Abner Peacock, Jr.,
tenderfoot, Blake Bailey, Hillary Barganier, Warren Barton, Dick Peacock, Jack
Hendrick, Louis Williams, Jr., Guy Garrett, Curtis Carpenter; tentative
tenderfoot, Louie Alexander, Johnnie Brown, Reed Ogden, Maurice Williams;
interpretation and gardening, Durwood Par(missing)s.
(T)roop 38 -- Tenderfoot, John James, (missing)nce Woodward.
(T)roop 66 -- Tenderfoot, T. A. Ro( )r., James Bletsch.
(Tr)oop 37's charter was renewed (missing) 21 enrolled. This troop rates
100 (per)cent for the month of May in the (He)art O' Texas council.
About 11 of the boys will attend the scout camp at Valley Mills, date to be
announced later.
Marlin scouts will assemble at Memorial cabin at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon
to attend Memorial Day services in Calvary cemetery at 3:30 o'clock in a body.
