MARLIN WINS OVER LORENA
IN ARMISTICE DAY GAME
Bulldogs Score Five Touchdowns
With Visitors Putting up
Game Fight.
With a large Armistice
Day crowd looking on, Marlin High school won over Lorena High school by (a)
score of 33 to 0 in a football game on the high school athletic field Wednesday
afternoon.
Backing the Bulldogs were the Marlin high
school band pep squad, providing ample enthusiasm for the day, while fans also
manifested keen interest, especially at times, as in the latter stages of the
game, when Lorena fought valiantly to put over a touchdown.
Marlin received the opening kick-off and on
a march straight down the field with Jones, Barton, Pace and Blasingame
alternating in lugging the ball shoved over a touchdown in the first few minutes
of pl(ay). Featuring this drive was 29-yard gain by Jones who then carried
the pigskin across the goal line. Try for point failed and the score
was Marlin 6, Lorena 0.
Lorena received and drove to midfield where
the visitors were forced to punt, the Bulldogs getting the ball on Marlin's
21-yard line. Marlin punted, McKay killing the ball on Lorena's 40-yard
line. Lorena kicked right back and Marlin had the ball in midfield.
Barton made 30 yards off right end and Jones then negotiated the remaining
distance for a touchdown. Try for point again failed and the count was
Marlin 12, Lorena 0.
Lorena again received, the first quarter
ending with ball in possession of the visitors on their own 11-yard line.
Here, they were forced to punt and Marlin had the ball in possession of the
visitors on their own 11-yard line. Here, they were forced to punt and
Marlin had the ball on Lorena's 39-yard line. Another Bulldog offensive
was launched with appreciable gains by Blasingame, Boyd, Barton and Pace, the
latter carrying the ball across for a touchdown. Jones converted from
placemen and the score was Marlin 19, Lorena 0.
Marlin again kicked off, Punt exchanges
followed, the half ending with the ball in Lorena's possession in midfield.

ending with ball in possession of the visitors on their own 11-yard line. Here
they were forced to punt and Marlin had the ball on Lorena's 39-yard line.
Another Bulldog offensive was launched with appreciable gains by Blasingame,
Boyd, Barton and Pace, the latter carrying the ball across for a touchdown.
Jones converted from placement and the score was Marlin 19, Lorena 0.
Marlin again kicked off with opening of the
third quarter, was held and punted. Taking the ball on their own 30-yard
line, the Bulldogs again attacked with a 12-yard gain by Jones and 28 and
30-yard jaunts by Blasingame who went over for the fourth touchdown. Jones
passed to Boyd for point and the score was Marlin 26, Lorena 0.
Marlin kicked off, a punt exchange followed
and the Bulldogs got the ball on a fumble on Lorena's 28-yard line.
Several short thrusts by Blasingame and Jones brought another touchdown, the
latter toting the ball on its final trip of the day across the goal line.
Jones passed to McKay for point and the count was Marlin 32, Lorena 0.
Lorena received and after punt exchanges,
Murphy of Marlin intercepted a pass. The Bulldogs punted and then Lorena
launched a passing and running attack that carried the ball within the Marlin
10-yard line as the game ended.
