YOUNG MAN LOST ONE OF HIS EARS
-----
Caught Between Bale of Cotton and
Wagon Wheel.
-----
Marcus Martin, son of W. M. Martin, living at Eddy, lost an ear Tuesday in a
most unusual manner.
Young Martin was assisting others in
loading a bale of cotton on to the wagon when his cotton hook slipped and the
bale fell, catching the side of his head between the bale and the wheel in such
a manner as to cut it off close to the head.
For a time it was feared that serious
results would follow, but the young man is now doing nicely. He will, of
course, be maimed for life, as the saving of the ear by sewing it on again was
out of the question, as the accident occured remote from a physician. The
young man has the sympathy of a large number of friends in his misfortune.
