Dr. Harold Elderkin of Fort Worth, owner of Lon Kelley the horse which holds the
state pacing record having recently made a half mile in 1:01 3-4, has written
the management of the Fiar and Racing Association here that inasmuch as no race
would fill, in which, Lon Kelley (or Kelly) was entered, he desired to arrange
for an exhibition race with his horse against his own record with a running
mate. The matter was taken up by the directors Monday morning and after
consultation with some for the races, sent the following telegram to Dr.
Elderkin: "Will guarantee free for all race to fill and that Lon Kelly
will not be better than second choice in the betting."
