PROGRAM OF NEGRO LEAGUE
-----
Purpose Stated by Committee.
Meets in Houston.
-----
The committee having in charge the arrangements for the meeting of the Texas
Negro Law and Order League has issued the following:
"The orgainization of the league was in
answer to the cry to save our sons from the grasp of sin and shame. The
cry is still ringing. The loafer's gang, the adulterous practice, hanging
as a millstone about the race, must be broken down and supplemented with
industry and sacredness of wife and home.
We earnestly urge every local league to
send delegates. Wherever no league is organized, it is requested that
anyone in accord with the object and aim of the Law and Order League shall call
a meeting and elect delegates to attend the state league, to be held at Houston,
Texas, in Paris hall in Fourth ward, on November 5 and 6, 1907.
Many subjects of vital concern shall claim
your prayerful attention. A full attendance is earnestly desired. All
railroads into Houston will give very low rates.
