The following is
self-explanatory:
Marlin, Tex., October 26, 1907,
Dr. R. G. Ward, City:
Dear Doctor--In response to your inquiry
made to the county attorney with reference to contageous (sic) diseases beg to
say Article 478d of the Penal Code provides as follows:
"Any physician who shall knowingly conceal
any case of contageous (sic) disease, or who shall fail to report to the county
or city health officer any case of contageous (sic) disease of which he may have
knowledge, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not less than $25 nor
more than $100."
Respectfully,
FRANK OLTORF
Assistant County Attorney.
Referring to the above, I wish to say
that I will adhere to the provisions of the law. Physicians who may fall
or refuse to report promptly the existence of any contageous disease among their
patients will be subject to prosecution, as I shall report all violations or
neglect to conform to the statute.
B. G. WARD
