Novel Turn In Civil Suit.
A novel
method of settling a civil suit is to be resorted to by the justice court of
precinct No. 1.
The case
of Mees vs. Neumann was on trial Thursday. The suit was brought by Mees to
recover $58 alleged to be due him on a contract with Neumann to bale some hay
and which plaintiff alleges was not baled on account of the defects of the hay
press of defendant.
In the
middle of teh argument Attorney Bounds for the defendant proposed to show that
the press could bale 300 bales a day. This challenge was accepted by
Attorney Carter for the plaintiff, all of which was very acceptable to the court
and parties to the suit, and the case was adjourned to the hay field, where, on
the first favorable day, a test of that press will be made under the direction
and jurisdiction of the court who will preside.
