MEETING WITH ENCOURAGEMENT
-----
Promoters of Fair Believe They Will
be Successful.
-----
The parties who are trying to work up a Falls county fair association, are
meeting with much encouragement from the citizens of Marlin. The
undertaking was attempted by just a few (paper torn) at the start, but there are
ot(h)ers who have joined in and are helping to make it a success.
Many have already expressed a willingness
to become stockholders, and it is believed that no difficulty will be had to
secure the required capital. A fair every summer or fall is contemplated
and big racing event in which horses from all over the state will probably be
entered.
Many of the Falls county horsemen are
attending the races at Taylor, this being the week in which the circuit horses
will be there. Rosebud is a member of the association and is on the
circuit, on account of which membership she will have races by the best horses
in the state.
It is hoped by the Marlin horsemen to have
the circuit horses, which are about sixty in number and which include some of
the best, here right soon. If a sufficent purse can be raised, the
thoroughbreds can be attracted to Marlin.
