Mission Tithing Meeting.
-----
The Mission society held
an interesting and instructive meeting Monday afternoon at the residence of the
president, Mrs. J. W. Spivey. Tithing was the subject under consideration,
and a special program prepared by Mrs. H. T. Cunningham, conference
superintendent on tithing was used. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. A.
Threadgill, the superintendent of tithing for this auxiliary.
Testimonials from many prominent men and
women as to the benefits of tithing were read, after which Mrs. Threadgill
called for personal experiences from those present and an informal discussion,
and again was the oft-repeated question asked, "How can a woman tithe when her
husband holds the purse strings and he will not?"
Two new names were added to the list of
tithers during the afternoon, bringing the number in this auxiliary to nineteen.
Rev. Hotchkiss announced that he was
planning for a jubilee rally day the first Sunday in October and thought the
best way to make it known would be to tell the women, which he then proceeded to
do, and asked their enthusiastic co-operation (sic) and help.
