THE SELLS-FOTO SHOW IN TOWN
-----
Street Parade was Witnessed by
Hundreds of People.
-----
Saturday was show day in Marlin and everybody knows it.
The Sells-Foto people reached here at an
early hour from Waco where they held the boards Friday.
Thousands of people are in town and many of
them came expressly to see the show or the parade, or both.
The "grand and gorgeous" street parade was
pulled off close to schedule time and the streets and awnings were lined with
people with craned necks and distended eyes, fearful that some detail or
incident of the show might escape them. The elephants, tigers, lions,
monkeys, clowns and other animals, biped and quadruped, were in evidence, along
with gaily bedecked wagons, the bands and other concomitants usually found in a
show. The small boy, accompanied by his father, mother, brothers and
sisters who came along to "take care of Johnny," was there in all his glory.
His hungry eyes feasted upon the animals and other exterior objects in the
parade, and wondered what on earth it could be in the closed wagons, so gaudily
painted.
The menagarie and zoological garden is a
very good one and is first to command the interest of visitors to the show.
It is not the largest that ever went out on the road, but it is above the
average in quality that comes to Marlin.
The first performance took place at 2:30
and was witnessed by a very large crowd, in fact the large tent was full to
capacity. Another performance will be given at 7 p.m. the doors being open
at 8, giving the public an opportunity to see the animals before the performance
begins.
