Fined Under New Barber Law.
-----
A negro barber named Melontree, who runs a shop in Marlin is the first to pay a
fine in this county under the new barber law. He will probably be the only
one for failure to procure license, for sometime at least.
Melontree was charged with pursuing the
occupation of a barber without first having secured the necessary license.
He plead guilty to the charge and was fined $10.00, the fine and costs running
the amount up to $24.65 which the defendant promptly paid and was discharged.
He has made application under the law for
the certificate and says he will stay on the safe side in the future.
