Dining at the Majestic.
The
Majestic Hotel, noted for its cuisine and its hospitality, was the scene of a
joyous Thanksgiving yesterday afternoon.
In
addition to their large list of patrons, Mr. and Mrs. Chatham had as invited
guests a large number of their personal friends to break bread with them.
The most
casual observer may perceive that the spirit of "home" permeates this
establishment; that there is absent that cold, isolating atmosphere which
envelopes most hotels. Yesterday afternoon, on entering the portals of the
Majestic the very welcome of the host and hostess made each guest instinctively
sensible of that largeness of heart and good will which forgets sell, sacrifices
leisure and endures fatigue that others may be made happy.
At 3:30
dinner was served and it was a royal feast.
Beautifully printed menu folders, with illuminated hand-painted covers (designed
and executed by Mrs. Chatham) indicated the location of each guest. On the
initial page of the folder was an original poem from the magic pen of Mrs. C. A.
Berry.
Dinner was
concluded about 5:30 after which the guests sought amusement in various games or
formed themselves in groupes (sic) for an hour of social intercourse.
A GUEST.
