Chasing the Elusive 'Possum.
Complimentary to Rev. M. T. Andrews, a 'possum hunt was arranged and executed
Tuesday night at the instance of Uncle Kraus Sewall, the famous 'possum hunter.
Judge
Boyles and O. E. Curry were invited to join the host and the guest in the
pursuit of the elusive game and Watson's pasture was chosen as the scene of the
exploit.
Several
hours chase resulted in only three animals. One of these undertook to make
a quick meal of Curry's hand when it was trust into the hollow tree after the
'possum, which succeeded only in getting a portion of the finger.
Another
was rudely interrupted while he was making his supper on a rabbit.
Uncle
Kraus says the moon was not right or the dog was no good, otherwise the catch
would have been double the number.
It is
understood that our county treasurer will give a 'possum and 'tater barbeque
when he opens his campaign for re-election, the exact date of which has not been
definitely decided upon.
