Negro Mortally Wounded--Tinner
Drops Dead--Brakeman Dies.
Waco, Texas, Dec. 23.--At 3 o'clock this morning Gabe Wesley, a negro
undertaker, was shot and mortally wounded by a burglar. Wesley was
returning from a belated train, where he had gone with a corpse and passing a
store he heard or saw some one inside. He called to the party and was
answered with a shot which it is believed will prove fatal.

the cause.
J. W. Bass, a
Katy brakeman whose leg was ground off under the wheels at Granger Friday
afternoon, died here last night. He will be interred in Illinois.
