The Blind Orator Gets a Good Job.
-----
You doubtless remember the blind orator, Thomas P. Gore, who was with us and
among us in Falls county in the politically stormy days of 1894 when populism
was in the ascendency. Gore wielded a two edged blade that produced some
queer feelings among the democratic "war hosses."
Well, Gore has just been nominated by the
democracy of Oklahoma Territory for United States senator. After leaving
Texas some ten years ago or about that time, the blind youth got back into the
democratic fold and was elected to the territorial legislature. He has
continued prominent, as he is a man of wonderful ability, eloquent, bold and
aggressive. He is as good as elected now and his clarion notes will be
heard in the hall of the senate.
His success in his ambition causes pleasure
among his acquaintances in Texas, regardless of previous political affiliations.
His course in the senate will be watched with interest.
