BIG BOX FOR THE ORPHANS.
Ladies Send the Largest One Ever
Sent From Marlin.
The ladies
of the Baptist church have sent their annual Thanksgiving box of cakes to
Buckner Orphans' in Dallas. The cakes, money and groceries amounting to
$115.25. The groceries will be sent later in the week.
Notwithstanding the scarcity of eggs and butter the box was the best ever sent
by the Marlin ladies.
This
institution is worthy of every thing that is asked for it. It has well and
tenderly care for more than five thousand homeless and dependent ones, and
now has more than thousand under its watch-care and over six hundred in the
home.
This big
family is sustained entirely by voluntary contributions from the big-hearted
people of Texas.
The
Ladies' Aid Society in behalf of the orphans thank those who so generously gave
of their means for this worthy cause.
