-----
Bad Negro on the Warpath.
-----
John Stuart, a well known negro, of powerful build, went on the warpath Saturday
afternoon in the vicinity of Peacock's saloon.
He cursed and otherwise abused a white
youth from the country. He asservated that he was impregnable to any
officer and exhibited his utter contempt for the laws generally.
City Marshall Stallworth appeared on the
scene and arrested him, not without the necessity of reducing his walking stick
to kindling wood in a successful effort to reduce the negro to a state of
submission.
