Assaulted A Former Section Boss.

Steve Eden a copper
colored negro, arrived in town Sunday afternoon wearing a pair of bracelets and
accompanied by Constable Krumnow of the Otto precinct. Steve is stopping
at the hotel run by Poole & Cooley.
The negro is charged with beating up Albert
Gilbert, a former section boss near Otto. The negro was working on the
railroad when Mr. Gilbert came along. The negro accused Gilbert of docking
him 40 cents time unjustly while the latter was foreman. The trouble that
followed resulted in the white man being badly beaten up with a spade. The
negro was arrested at Hallsburg. Gilbert is recovering.
The negro pleaded guilty to aggravated
assault and was assessed a fine of $100 in county court.
