WORK OF INCENDIARY.
-----
Believed The Rosebud Fire Was That
Kind
-----
A brief account of the Rosebud fire appeared in Thursday's paper. The
Rosebud News reports it in detail as follows:
"At about l:30 o'clock this morning the
crack of a six shooter and cry of fire awoke our citizens, who, on rushing out,
discovered that the east end of Avenue C was in flames. The fire
originated in the rear end of the old opera house and was evidently the work of
an incendiary.
The flames were quickly communicated to the
frame buildings on each side, and in a few minutes all were reduced to ashes.
The Rigby building and old opera house were
the property of Slade, Waters & Wiley; valued at $1,500, no insurance. The
former was used for offices by Drs. Williams and Buggin; Dr. William's loss will
amount to about $100, no insurance. Dr. Buggin lost about $25. The
Justice of the Peace office was also located in this building and the desks and
a lot of papers were destroyed; loss about $100. The opera house was
unoccupied.
The building occupied by R. Thomas as a
racket store, was the property of C. W. Myers, on which he carried no insurance.
R. Thomas loss on stock $2,600, insurance $1,100.
The wall of the brick building occupied by
B. Clein was badly damaged. It is the property of Slade & Wiley, covered
by insurance.
B. Clein's loss by water will probably
amount to about $100. covered by insurance.
