KIND WORDS FOR MARLIN
Says the Dallas Times-Herald
correspondent, who accompanied the Dallas Commercial club members on their
recent tour: "Not one fourth of the. Dallasites knew of the true greatness of
Marlin, its present state of development and its future possibilities, all due,
primarily, to its marvelous mineral waters, and, secondarily. to the enterprise
of at least a portion of its citizens. Hardly a one of the Dallasites knew that
the city possesses one of the wonders of the world-a flowing artesian well 3350
feet deep, with a daily flowing capacity of 200,000 gallons of water at a
temperature of 147 degrees. Not many of them knew that Hot Springs. Ark., has
only one, spring of water hotter than the Marlin water and that the waters of
Marlin have a curative record as great as the waters of Hot Springs. Further
than this, the Dallasites were made aware of the fact that Marlin has ample
hotel, sanitarium and bath house facilities to accommodate all the sick people
of Texas. After seeing and hearing the proposition that Marlin has to offer to
the invalid world, Dallas promised to do its share of the scratching. On motion
of Mr. A. P. Tenison, the Dallas Commercial club, in the presence of the
citizens of Marlin, unanimously adopted a resolution to the effect that in so
far as it is possible for the Dallasites to prevent it, Marlin will henceforth
not be known as a town that's not on the map."
