The Marlin Democrat
Fifteenth Year Number 20
Marlin, Texas, Thursday, July 14, 1904
VIESCA ITEMS.
Messrs T. B. Nettle, J. B,; E. F. and
C. H. Redding, attended the recent session of the Farmers Congress at College
Station, and report a large and interesting meeting. We are glad our
farmers are beginning to realize the importance of these annual gatherings and
trust the interest will increase from year to year.
Miss Florrie Jones who has been attending school in
Palestine the past session returned last week.
T. C. Spencer and family of Marlin visited relatives
and friends in our village the past week.
The primary passed off very quietly here only sixty
votes being polled out of a possible ninety. The Terrell Law may need a
little trimming but in the main it is the best piece of work done by any of our
late legislatures.
We advise all defeated candidates to get ready for
1906, then if it is the will of the people. etc, etc.
Quite a number of the young people enjoyed an ice cream
supper at Mrs. Wooten's Thursday night.
Rev. E. H. Earl filled Rev Gardner's pulpit here
Sunday.
We are glad to note that our Sunday school is increasing in interest and
attendance each Sunday.
Prof. Graham has secured a large class in vocal music
to begin July 18 and continue two weeks.
Miss Lou Mayfield who is attending the normal at Marlin
spent Sunday with the folks.
Taylor Noles of Oenaville visited relatives here
Sunday.
The democratic precinct convention convened Saturday
afternoon and organized by electing E. B. Childers chairman and J. L. Lutuskey
secretary. The following delegates were elected to attend the convention: B. A.
Pierson, J. M. Kelly, R. Burton and J. W. Byers.
We grow Irish potatoes here, folks. Our E. F.
Redding having captured the prize each time at the Marlin sales day. Watch
