Good rains in this vicinity which was
a great help to crops. Corn is already made and as fine a crop as was ever
raised here. Cotton is looking well and promised a fine yield.
Some farmers report the appearance of boll weevil in
their cotton, but they don't seem to be as numerous as they were this time last
year.
Miss Eva Flood of Norton, Texas, left for Cameron today
after having spent several days visiting relatives at this place.
Mrs. E. L. Wise of Reagan is spending some time
with her sister, Mrs. A. C. Davidson.
The pastor of the Baptist church will begin a
protacted, meeting at this place Saturday, July 2nd. The meeting will be held in
a tent and will continue two weeks. The pastor will be assisted by the Falls
county missionary, Rev. Taylor, also by Rev. Andrews of Marlin, and Rev. Thomas
of Rosebud.
Mrs. A. J. Davison and son Edgar and Mrs. J. D. Ratliff
have returned from Lampasas where they spent some time camping out.
Mr. Kelly Cansler of Hillsboro spent several days here
last week visiting relatives.
The Sunday school class of Miss Myrtle Davidson enjoyed
a nice party at her hospitable Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Emma Stovall of Yoakum is visiting her sister,
Mrs. Frank Hadaway.
Mrs. J. S. Lamar of lredell is visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Whiteside.
Messrs. D. C. Clark and J. D. Ratliff left for West
Texas last week where they will travel in the interest of wholesale houses.
