IN SOCIETY'S REALM
News of the Week as Tersely Told by the
Society Editor---
(This is very difficult to read to type - but I hope at least I
have been able to include all the names-lsc)
Mrs. Lawles and Mrs. Robinson's apartments were opened for the first time (to)
their host of Marlin friends. The occasion was two fold in a significance,
an introduction (for) her sister, Mrs. Mattie Lawles as well as a compliment to
the very popular society of Presbyterian ladies. Scarce beyond the
threshold, we were greeted by perfumes of the most delicate sachet, merry voices
and happy faces, that seemed all (and) all to each other. As guides t(o)
the late comers, were Mrs. Branson and Miss Levy. Mrs Branson with her
characteristic gentle manner and sweet face, are a look of sympathy for w(hat)
we had missed. Miss Levy (with) her eyes brim full of mischief, seemed to
say how dare you enter now at the eleventh ho(ur) to reap what others have seen
as the work of the society and the season (missing) and the season for
refreshments was on. Then came our (missing) little bride of only a few
months, whom we had caressed and enjoyed her lisping (missing) and baby kisses.
(when we were a bride, ourselves)) re-assured (missing) with a face so pleased,
th(at) the hostess with her big he(art) had a forgiveness for evan (missing)
Mrs. Robinson's individualty plans, developed many interesting features, which
gave the (missing) of luster and beauty too. From the lovely hand painted
Valentines, with their (missing) mottos, the work of the honored guest, Mrs.
Lawler, the daintiest two coursed (missing). Mesdames Harris and (H)olmes,
of the Fannin, assists the hostess in the serving, they are recent additions to
circle and Marlin feels a pride in her gain. And to the (re)ception they
added much to (the) (s)uccess. We passed the Hunter invitation, and still
we li(ngered) on, loath to part with a friend, seeming as though (we had f)ound
at last the Eden who (missing) congregations never break.'
