RIGGINS IMPEACHMENT.
-----
City Attorney Files Petition With
High Courts.
The impeachment trial of
Mayor J. W. Riggins at Waco attracts considerable interest in Marlin, where the
parties most concerned are quite well known.
The latest phase in the case is embraced in
the following from Austin:
"City Attorney Allan D. Sanford, of Waco,
arrived here today to file a petition with the court of civil appeals to have
that tribunal set aside the restraining order in the impeachment proceedings
against Mayor Riggins. Mr. Sanford with the assistance of City Attorney V.
L. Brooks, of Austin, were busily engaged all day preparing the petition and it
will be presented to the court tomorrow. Mr. Sanford says that he will
remain here all day tomorrow and present the matter to the court. He will
make an effort to have the court of civil appeals set a day on which to hear the
arguments in the case. He will make a strong effort to have the court
dissolve its injunction so that the impeachment proceedings will not be
interfered with."
