~~~~~
W. C. T. U. TAKES UP THIS IMPORTANT
WORK.
The Marlin Woman's Christian
Temperance Union will open up rest and reading rooms for the free use of ladies
who come to Marlin to do their shopping. This matter bas been under
consideration for some time and the conclusion was reached Wednesday to open the
rooms at once, The building formerly occupied by the Ladies Bazaar will probably
be secured for the purpose.
PROCEEDINGS
The W. C. T. U., held quite an interesting meeting
Wednesday afternoon at the regular place, the Christian church: After scripture;
reading and prayer by the president, the program for the afternoon was omitted
in order that the business should be taken up. Reports were received from the
treasurer also from the cradle roll.
A communication was read from the World's Fair
Temperance headquarters inviting the Union to stop with them while visiting the
fair.
Mrs. J. L. Lenoir was elected as delegate to the state
W. C. T. U. to be held at Wills Point in May. The L. T. L. President, Miss
Lizzie Hair was also elected to accompany her.
A committee was appointed to secure a rest room at once
so as to have it fitted up by the 1st. This is to be free for everyone, and will
be an especial benefit to the country people after their long ride through the
dust or mud, also a convenient place for the town ladies to drop into to see if
their hats are on straight.
Subject for next meeting "Obedience" Everyone invited
to attend.
